Skin Rejuvenation
PRECISION WHERE IT COUNTS
Many clients at Burnside Cosmetic have a combination treatment plan that includes a medical grade skincare homecare regime, cosmetic medical treatments, and laser skin treatments. Laser skin treatments work by stimulating the skin to produce collagen and elastin, which naturally decline with age, and can also be used to help address blemishes, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles. A laser facial treatment can be offered to clients who wish to start their skincare journey without other cosmetic treatments, or as an adjunct for those who already have these treatments.
Everyone has different skin needs depending on their age, lifestyle and previous skincare history, which is why we offer a range of medical grade laser and IPL treatments. Our treatments include PicoSure Laser, Laser Genesis and Limelight, which can be offered alongside our range of chemical peels and skin boosting treatments. A prescribed, personalised home skincare regime is also recommended.
These are non-surgical treatments with typically no downtime. What's suitable for you, and what you might expect, is best discussed at a consultation with Dr Chris Koulos or Nurse Claire Koulos.
PicoSure Laser Treatment
for Collagen and Elastin Stimulus
PicoSure is used at Burnside Cosmetic to help address freckles, sun damage, birthmarks and more. Suitability and expected outcomes for your skin are discussed at consultation.
-
PicoSure is used to help target pigmentation such as freckles, sun damage and more. It breaks the pigment into tiny particles, which the body then clears away naturally.
-
PicoSure can be used to help address skin discolouration, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, typically with minimal downtime. Suitability for your skin and expected outcomes are discussed at consultation.
-
PicoSure's ultra-fast pulses and specialised wavelengths are designed to limit the amount of heat transferred to the surrounding skin during treatment.
-
Some skin discolouration can recur over time. Some patients choose a PicoSure Focus treatment every six months as part of an ongoing approach, discussed with your practitioner based on your skin.
-
Most people experience very little discomfort. Some describe it as feeling like the snap of a rubber band. We can provide numbing cream to minimise discomfort.
-
It depends on what’s being treated and your skin’s ability to heal. Typical treatment intervals are 2-6 weeks for skin discolouration. Treatments for acne scars and wrinkles using the Focus lens array can be performed every 3-4 weeks. Your treatment provider will create a plan just for you.
Laser Genesis
Skin Tone, Texture and Redness
Laser Genesis is a non-ablative laser treatment that stimulates the skin's natural processes, and is used to help address signs of ageing and sun damage.
-
Laser Genesis is a non-invasive laser treatment that stimulates collagen production and can be used to help address skin tone, fine lines and redness.
-
Laser Genesis works by heating the dermis, which stimulates collagen production and can shrink dilated capillaries, which may contribute to changes in skin texture and redness over time.
-
Laser Genesis is a comfortable and gentle procedure, often described as warming and soothing to the skin.
-
Some patients notice changes after one treatment, but a series of treatments (usually 4 to 6) scheduled 2 to 4 weeks apart may be recommended, discussed with your practitioner based on your skin.
-
There is no downtime after Laser Genesis, and patients can resume their regular activities immediately after the treatment.
-
Laser Genesis can be used to help address fine lines, wrinkles, redness, large pores, uneven texture and acne scars.
-
Laser Genesis can be used across a range of skin types and treatment areas. Suitability for you is confirmed at consultation.
-
A typical Laser Genesis session takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Limelight IPL
for redness and dark spots on the face, neck, decolletage and hands
LimeLight IPL is a non-invasive treatment delivered in a pulse of light, used to help address redness, brown spots and sun damage. It is suitable for the arms, legs, hands, face, neck or décolletage, and can target a combination of redness and pigmentation in each pulse.
-
Limelight IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target pigmentation, redness, and sun damage.
-
Limelight IPL works by delivering pulses of light energy that target melanin and haemoglobin in the skin, to help address sun spots, freckles, redness and vascular lesions.
-
Limelight IPL is suitable for most skin types, but a consultation is required to determine if it is suitable for your specific skin concerns.
-
Limelight IPL can be used to help address the appearance of sunspots, freckles, redness, rosacea and vascular lesions on the face, neck, chest and hands.
-
The number of Limelight IPL treatments needed varies depending on the severity of the skin concern. A series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced about 3 to 4 weeks apart is commonly recommended, discussed with your practitioner.
-
There is minimal downtime after Limelight IPL, with some patients experiencing mild redness or darkening of pigmented spots that typically resolve within a few days.
-
Potential side effects of Limelight IPL may include temporary redness, swelling, or darkening of pigmented areas, but these are usually mild and temporary.
-
Limelight IPL is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, but it can also be used on other areas of the body with sun damage or pigmentation concerns.
-
Most patients describe Limelight IPL as comfortable, with a sensation similar to a mild rubber band snap on the skin. A cooling gel is often applied to minimise discomfort during treatment.
